In 2017, Hertfordshire celebrated their 25th anniversary as a University. With a community of over 24,600 students on UK based programmes, they have more than 3,800 international students. Furthermore, they have 6,400 students who are studying their courses outside the UK. Its predecessor, Hatfield Technical college was identified as one of 25 colleges of Technology in the UK after being founded in 1948. They were granted the university status by British government in 1992 after which they changed their name to the University of Herefordshire.
