On 19th July 1920 King George V laid the foundation stone for the University and in that same year 89 Students enrolled. There were 65 staff and 485 students by September 1939.
Singleton Abbey and the library were the only two buildings on campus in 1947 and that is when the principal, J S Fulton decided to expand estate with a vision for having a self-contained community which came to include social, residential and academic facilities all under one campus. This turned out to be the first University campus in the UK.
By 2012, they began an ambitious campus expansion and by 2015 they opened the Bay Campus. Then again in 2018 they successfully opened doors to two more further projects the College which is the university’s joint venture with NAVITAS and the Computational Foundry which is the home of the College of Science’s departments of Computer Science and Mathematics.
